Reuters Photographer Manipulates Photo to Look Worse
Reuters News Service withdrew 920 photographs by a freelance Lebanese photographer from its database ,Monday, after a review of his photos showed that he had altered two images of the Mid-East Conflict. One of the images was that of smoke billowing from the city of Beiruit. In the original, some smoke floated in the air above the city. In the altered image, the smoke was more directly coming from buildings, appears to darker smoke and has a caption along the lines of destroyed buildings burning after the IDF attacked over night.
The second of the photos was that of an Israeli fighter jet firing A flare from its underbelly. The altered photo showed 3 flares being fired from it saying that they were missiles. Little Green Footballs, Ace and Free Republic appear to be responsible for the discovery of the altered photos.
